9 Apartment Moving Hacks
Moving to a new apartment is a chance to start a new chapter in your life. Regardless of your motifs for moving, one thing is certain: new possibilities and good things are yet to come. Moving brings a unique excitement for you, but it can be also a very, very stressful process. However, this doesn’t mean that you should dread the thought of getting out of your comfort zone and starting the preparations for your move.
All that you need to do is find a good moving company and use their apartment moving services. And for less stressful and more efficient packing and moving preparations, keep in mind the following nine apartment moving hacks.
- Buy Perfect-Sized Boxes
First and foremost, before you start packing your things you need to buy cartoon moving boxes. Make sure the boxes are of high-quality, durable, the right size you need and strong enough to enable you to safely transfer your goods to the new destination. - Pack the Clothes on Hangers
No you don’t need to remove each hanger from the myriad clothing pieces that hang in your closet, fold and unfold them time and time again once you get in your new apartment. Save time and effort on moving these clothes just like they are, hung. All that you need to do is secure the hangers together using a rubber band and cover them with a clean garbage bag. - Transport Your Clothes in Drawers
Emptying the dresser drawers, folding and packing the clothes in boxes will take you a lot of time for sure. There’s really no need to do this, because the drawers can be used for storing. Instead, leave the clothes in the drawers, folded as they are, wrap the dresser in a plastic wrap to prevent the drawers from opening during the transport and you are good to go. - Mark the Boxes With Different Colours
When all of your boxes arrive in your new apartment, chances are they all will be put in one place in a random order (not in the way they were loaded in the moving truck). Opening every box to see what’s inside and which room the items should go to, can be time-consuming and really frustrating. For this reason, mark each of the boxes with a specific colour you’ve previously chosen for each room specifically.
- Pack the Plates
Plates are undoubtedly one of the most fragile and breakable items for moving. Worst case scenario is unpacking a box full of broken dishes. You definitely do not want this to happen. Thus, wrap them in bubble wrap and pack them vertically in smaller boxes. This way you will reduce the chances of damaging or breaking the dishes during the transport. - Pack Mirrors and Pictures
When you come to this point, you’ll realize that dishes weren’t the most difficult items to pack and transport, but that mirrors and pictures are the real moving hassle. To protect such valuable items from damage during transport, wrap them in bubble wrap and pack each of these items in separate box. And, don’t forget to label each box with “fragile”.
- Use Your Towels and Sheets
You can use your towels and sheets to wrap larger, fragile objects. This will help you reduce the amount of bubble wrap you need and reduce the garbage disposal after transporting and arranging your valuable items in your new home. Two birds with one stone! - Pack Your TV
It’s a good practice to keep the original boxes of your appliances. There’s no better box to transport your TV in, than the one in which you bought it. If you keep the original box, all you need to do is cover the TV with a towel, sheer or bubble wrap and pack it into its box. On the other side, if you bought your TV many years ago and you don’t have the box anymore, you can buy a box that is specially made for that purpose. Also, you can always ask your apartment moving services provider to help you find such a box. - Fill Wall Holes With Soap Bars
In the end, when you have everything packed and ready to be transported to your new apartment, fill the remaining wall holes with soap bars. This is a simple and inexpensive way to covering wall damages that may cost you a significant amount of money.
