Green Juice: Gain Health, Lose Weight
Two years ago I had my baby girl. But only just now did I lose those last stubborn 5 kilograms of my baby weight.
At first my weight was not on my priorities list; wearing baggy clothes really did not bother me, nor was I too concerned with exploring diet and fitness options. And exercising in the morning (the only time I could do it) was not something I looked forward to. It was just so hard to get on the treadmill after a sleepless night; I did not want to spend the morning on the band, I wanted to spend it in the bed.
So I decided to simply accept the fact that I will never kick my love handles to the curb and to be content with maternity clothes being my best outfits. Until one evening I had a dinner with my two besties and a waitress recommended a virgin margarita because she thought I was pregnant. It hurt and I felt so embarrassed, but it was the kick I really needed.
So I started working out 2-3 times a week and eating reasonably and still wasn’t getting anywhere. I thought drastic is what I need but where do I start. I called my I-know-all-about-healthy-life friend whose been annoying me with the talk of juicing (the fountain of youth according to her) to recommend a juicer. She tells me how she fell in love with the Kuvings whole slow juicer.
But $500-plus for a machine that squeezes the juice out of fruit and veggies for me was a bit ludicrous; I decided to inspect the matter and did a little research online. To my surprise, there were really only few critical reviews. I thought, if all these people praise Kuvings, it really must be the best juicer. For days I was researching pros and cons of all different vegetable press juicers the company offers and decided to get the B6000 whole slow juicer.
I have to say that juicing changed my life. I know it sounds like a cliché, but it took me only two months to lose all my baby weight with Kuvings vegetable press juicer compared to almost a year of struggle and counting calories, it is pretty amazing. And super easy and quick way to get the recommended daily dose of fruits and vegetables. Honestly, I was surprised how many more vegetables I am actually able to consume in one glass of juice. But it took me a while to find the perfect fruit and veggies combo; since pizza was my energy-booster, my first green juice tasted like cardboard.
Honestly, I don’t know why I haven’t thought of it before, to go to Kuvings website and see what they recommend. So many delicious recipes, so many health bombs and all super easy to prepare. My all-time favourite is the Energizer Monday Juice. It is the first thing I have in the morning; loaded with so many nutrients, it gives me the energy needed to play all day long with my princess and still complete all my housewife duties. What I love about this juice is that I can’t feel that pungent and bitter taste of leafy greens such as kale. Kale contains high level of important nutrients like vitamins K, E, C and A and it’s an amazing source of heart-healthy potassium, bone-building calcium and energizing B vitamins.
Without the Kuvings juicer, I would never be able to consume the amount of healthy produce that goes into this recipe. I always knew that consuming plenty of vegetables and fruits is the key to vitality and health, but with the busy schedules who has the time. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, only 7% of adult people consume the recommended serving of vegetables and fruits per day. Juicing is the perfect way to give your body the minerals and vitamins to improve your immune system and stay happy and healthy. It does not require a lot of time and the results of making and drinking your homemade juice are rewarding. I am the proof.
When juicing, it is important to use the fresh produce and organic if possible. Fresh not only tastes better but it also contains the highest amount of nutrients. Also, it is important to drink your juice as soon as possible, but do not gulp it down. I found out the best way is to sip it. Not only will your bladder not fill up quick, but the absorption rate is higher. When I do not have the time for sipping (and as my daughter grows older, I have less and less time), I store the juice in glass bottle and leave it in the refrigerator. The juice is usually good for about 72 hours and will lose only minimal amount of the nutrients.
I am very proud of myself and relieved – my old clothes fit again. And to my surprise, the whole weight-loss mission was not as hard as I thought it would be. I mean I feel so good that I cannot stop bragging about what I eat and juicing and my Kuvings juicer and annoying out of everyone I know.
