It’s kind of an architectural bliss to have a patio; you get to welcome spring (and autumn for that matter) sitting on a comfy outdoor chair with a cup of coffee or tea, or a glass of rose, soaking up that sun while you present yourself as a detail-oriented host for your guests. Not to talk about all the fun time you get to arrange with a barbecue and a Sunday family gathering. Truly, delights.
However, you can’t present yourself as the perfect host if your patio looks like you’ve just uncovered it from the long, cold, winter sleep – dusty and rusty. Besides the much necessary cleaning and refreshing of the furniture, you should update the overall décor and even do some changes in the entire layout of the elements. You know, just so you make it a little more playful and colourful.
For that purpose, you could use some fun garden accessories, which besides their immense practicality, can also serve as amazing decorative pieces. I selected a few ideas which can inspire you this spring to make your patio look dashing.
Add a splash of light in the dark night
Hanging lanterns are just amazing pieces of garden accessories. You can find these in many sizes and shapes. I’d suggest you get something round and big enough to fit a fairly big candle. You can also go with street style lights if your patio is connected with a garden. That way you can accentuate certain points of your backyard at night. If you want the lanterns to be in colour, choose something in a strong hue, like navy blue or red. Or, if your seating furniture is elegant, go with a neutral one, like beige for example.
Break the boredom
Don’t keep it too classic – your patio is the space that allows for a little décor play. For example, watering cans can serve for more than just carrying water. You can place them besides your planters with flowers on the ground and create a small flower garden corner beside the seating set. Or, you can also put them along with the decorative small metal cans on a table to serve entirely as a decorative set of garden tools.
If you want to be completely out of the ordinary…
You can always take a giant step towards decorating your patio. Turn it completely vintage by using an old bed with metal frames as seating furniture. Use the old side tables as coffee tables and decorate them with a medium sized enamel mug. This one you’d normally use for drinking, but in this case, express your creativity and plant a small flower or other type of plant in it. Something small and simple, just to beautify your new patio coffee-drinking corner.
These are just a few lovely ideas on how you can transform your patio into a cosy and welcoming space where you can spend your spring days. If you already have a nicely arranged seating furniture, you can only rearrange it and alter the entire ambiance like it’s completely new. Or, you can only add new accessories and achieve the same effect.
