No matter how much you love your home, there’s always room for some change. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are visual creatures who enjoy being surrounded by beauty and something new and exciting every now and then. The problem arises when budget comes to play, not all of us can afford entire makeovers as often or as seldom as we like. Some would see this as a setback, I however see it as a chance to rely on my imagination as the source to be creative and find things that could work in my interior. I think all of you readers would agree even a small interior change can breathe in new life to a living nest.

Since I recently found myself bored of my surroundings, to the degree of spending less time at home as possible after finding my home was getting me in a rather depressing mood, I figured out it was high time I changed the dynamics of the décor and after looking through the pages of design magazines, I realised the answer was already here. Call me old-fashioned or nostalgic, but I think there’s no match for wallpapers when it comes to getting an instant interior transformation that won’t break your bank. Walls cover up a vast area of the home which means they are your canvas, at your disposal for your creative sparks. Though nowadays thanks to the busy lifestyles, people are getting more oriented towards simplicity and having plain walls with little to no decorations or paintings, a wallpaper can bring warmth to the ambiance, making your home appear more welcoming without the need for extra ornaments.

Undergoing changes themselves, wallpapers have improved in texture and design, differing from the wallpaper of the Victorian Era, let’s say, that proved to be full of toxins (arsenic primarily). Latest wallpaper trends are those that are easy to install even as a DIY project, easy to remove, and fit for every room with waterproof properties. I still haven’t done the shopping, but after spending hours looking through the variety of designs offered, I must say the choices of brick style wallpaper won me over. Wallpaper and brick, two timeless treasures combined together, what’s not to love. Though there are plenty of eye-catching designs, such as those with flower petals, stripes and the charming damask, nothing spoke “class” and “warmth” to me like the brick.

Bricks have long been present on this planet, being first made in 4000BC by the ingenious people of Mesopotamia. The great thing about getting brick style wallpaper is having vast possibilities of combining them. They are perfect with industrial style homes, homes with implemented eclectic or rustic style; in other words brick is the lid for every pot. Not only do they go well with every style, but they also go well with every room. If you want a warm welcome, place them in the foyer, for a luxurious atmosphere use them in the living room, for a serene surrounding use them in the bedroom – the options are endless. It’s their outdated look that makes them so trendy. This wall covering is also far more ideal than opting for actual brick interior walls because it doesn’t require the maintenance real bricks do in terms of frequent dusting. So it’s win-win both in terms of function and style.
