Hair Tutorial: How To Get The perfect Beach Waves
While most of us would love to spend every minute possible at the beach, duty and reality calls. Still, that does not mean that we cannot recreate our favourite beachy hairstyle – that perfect and effortless, salt-water wavy hair. You don’t need to spend money on expensive sea salt spray (not only that it costs, it is loaded with harsh chemicals also), because believe me, you have all the needed ingredients for a simple and quick DIY at home.
Natural Salty-Water Spray
Start with a towel-dried hair. To make your own DIY hair solution you will need:
- Spray bottle
- 1 cup hot water
- 1-2 tsp sea salt (or more depending on your hair)
- 1 tbsp argan oil, coconut oil or ½ of each
- ½ tsp leave-in conditioner
- dab of pomade or water-based gel
Tip: If you want your hair to smell heavenly, choose leave-in conditioner and pomade that have great fragrances in order to suit the fragrance of the both oils.
How To Make Your Salty-Water Hair Spray?
Add the hot water into the spray bottle (hot, not boiling);
Measure all ingredients and add to the bottle filled with hot water;
Shake for a minute or two;
Spray the solution onto towel-dry hair;
Wear your hair in a big loose braid for awhile or in a loose knot while it dries. When it is almost dry, let your hair down and let it air dry. And, Voila! You are done! Enjoy your beachy wavy hair.
Get Perfect Beachy Waves With a Curling Wand
For this hairstyle you will need:
- 2.5cm Curling wand
- Hair Spray
You can do this hairstyle on a second-day hair or freshly washed hair, just make sure there are no knots or frizz. Brush your hair with a wide tooth comb and separate your hair in 4 sections. Start with the bottom section by taking 2.5cm pieces of hair, wrap around the wand and leave around 4cm of hair out of the bottom in order to create the nice beachy look you want. Do this with all your hair and stop when you get at the top. Do not forget to apply hair spray on each piece of hair.
Once you are at the top layer, take one piece of hair, spray a little bit of hair spray on the roots and tease the hair just a little. After that just go ahead and do the curls as usual. This final step will give you some extra texture and volume and will create a more realistic beach waves. Let your hair cool for 5 minutes and piece out your hair, smooth it out with your fingers and comb if necessary. Break the curls with fingers and hair spray if necessary in order to create a more real beach wavy curls.
